Tourism eMarketplace

The Tourism eMarketPlace (TeM) was a multi-million dollar program of work that spanned over five years and delivered over fifty websites.

The Program used the Microsoft SharePoint as the platform for the technical implementation. Tourism WA was selected as a member of the Microsoft beta program for MOSS 2007 when the program began.

Scope

Tourism WA initiated the Tourism eMarketplace Program (TeM) to create and support the growth of a cohesive, branded network of websites and associated capabilities, such a mapping, itinerary planning and booking. These websites are all accessible from the principal gateway site www.westernaustralia.com and focus Tourism WA's national and international advertising spend by encouraging tourists to visit WA and to purchase tourism product online. TeM has now become a one stop shop for visitors to WA.

Challenges

The challenges for the TeM project were:

  • Early adopters for implementing a complex and challenging websites using Microsoft SharePoint and MOSS.
  • Agile based development methodologies
  • Continuous improvements of the environments.
  • Content management architecture
  • Information architecture
  • Branded site design and implementation
  • All sites are highly customised and required the construction of multiple ASP.NET web parts to address a demanding set of requirements.

Diversus Difference

Diversus provided expert knowledge of the product to assist Tourism WA in implementation and delivery of all the websites within expected timeframes. Through active participation, Diversus has made numerous recommendations through reviews of the hardware, software configuration, processes, content migration (and deployment) and performance. This has provided Tourism WA the ability to proactively implement continuous improvements and manage new websites and campaigns with minimal issues.
